Who are Plesk?
Plesk, a global software company with over 200 employees, has acquired a 100% stake in XOVI GmbH. With more 377,000 server installations and 11 million hosted websites worldwide, Plesk is the leading platform for the creation, protection and maintenance of websites, applications and cloud-based business models, with an annual turnover of over 30 million USD in 140 countries.
Since 1 May 2017, Plesk has been an independent company and part of Oakley Capital – one of the leading private equity funds in Europe with managed assets in excess of 1.5 billion USD.
As a leading web operations platform and cloud control panel, Plesk currently runs on over 377,000 servers and automates over 11 million websites with around 19 million email accounts. Plesk was first launched in 1999 and is now available in 32 languages across the globe. More than half of the top 100 cloud service providers worldwide are supported by Plesk and its innovative solutions. Plesk enjoys a service provider market share of 85% in Europe, 40% in the USA and 50% in Asia.
With the strong growth and increasing dominance of hyperscale cloud providers such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Alibaba, many service providers are transferring their business models to the cloud – from traditional web hosts, managed service providers and systems integrators with their own data centers to cloud-managed service providers for small and medium-sized businesses. On our growth path with Plesk, we aim to offer these MSPs and web professionals preconfigured and integrated standard solutions for the operation and management of websites and cloud applications – regardless of the choice of cloud provider.
At the same time, the Plesk platform ecosystem continues to grow. In the first half of 2017, Plesk was able to agree a strategic partnership with Automattic, the company behind WordPress, to co-operate on the development of Plesk’s “WordPress Toolkit.” In addition to a continued focus on the hyperscale cloud segment, Plesk aim to become the global market leader in WordPress management and automation, and have recently also entered into partnerships with Symantec (the global market leader in cyber security) and Kolab (an open-source groupware solutions provider). Furthermore, Plesk is also the Advanced Technology Partner of Amazon Web Services (AWS) as well as an official partner of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Docker.
How will I benefit from the merger as a customer?
The partnership with Plesk gives us the best resources possible to guarantee the consistent, long-term growth of our company. We aim to offer customers an improved service in the following areas: technology, price, integrative solutions, applications and SEO, as well as better solutions for digital agencies. We aim to press on with the internationalization of XOVI’s services, building on Plesk’s expertise with customers in 140 countries.
What will change for me?
In terms of your contract and adviser: nothing! XOVI will be investing strongly in the latest technologies to provide customers with even more data from even more countries. There will also be a number of changes in development and purchasing so that we can continue to offer you, the customer, the very best service at attractive prices.
